Holiday Chocolate Fundraising: How Calgary Schools and Sports Teams Can Raise the Most Before December

2 min read

The holidays are the single best window in the year to run a chocolate bar fundraiser. People are already buying gifts, stocking stuffers, and treats for coworkers, teachers, and neighbours — a box of handmade Belgian chocolate with your team or school's own branding sells itself. Here's how to plan one that actually pays off, and the dates you need to hit to have product in hand before winter break.

Why the holidays outsell almost any other fundraising season

Back-to-school and fall sports fundraisers compete with tight family budgets. Holiday fundraisers don't — people are already spending on gifts, and a locally made chocolate bar with custom packaging feels like a real present, not a fundraiser purchase. Parent councils, hockey and ringette clubs, and school groups across Calgary consistently see their best per-seller numbers in November and December.

What your group can raise

  • Up to 100% profit potential on every bar sold, depending on your selling price and order size

  • Minimum order of 200 bars, with smaller taste-test samples available before you commit

  • A team of 20 sellers moving 20 bars each clears 400 bars in one campaign

  • Every bar is made in our CFIA-licensed Calgary facility

How to get started

  1. Choose your product — milk or dark chocolate, bar size, and box design

  2. Approve your packaging — we design a box or sticker with your school or team's branding

  3. Get your sell sheet — a print-and-share flyer your group can hand out or post online

  4. Sell, order, collect — place your order once you know demand, and we handle production

The gift-box angle

For a holiday run, we design your wrapper and box around gifting — think stocking-stuffer sizing, a clean crest or team logo, and stickers your sellers can hand out with the bar. Milk or dark chocolate, 30g or 80g bars, and a custom sell sheet so parents and players know exactly what they're offering when they knock on a door or post in the office Slack.

Deadlines to book by

Production takes three to four weeks after your wrapper artwork is approved — and December is our busiest month, so holiday orders need to get in early:

  • Want bars in hand before winter break (mid-December)? Get your order and artwork approved by early November.

  • Selling through December for New Year's gifting? You have a bit more room, but we'd still recommend locking in your order by late November.

Every bar is handmade in our CFIA-licensed Calgary facility, and there's no risk of catalogue filler nobody wants — just chocolate people are already planning to buy this time of year.

Ready to lock in a holiday fundraiser? Email hello@calgarychocolatefactory.com to get started — and the earlier you reach out, the more flexibility you'll have on artwork and delivery timing.
